Annika attained her BSc (hons) in Human Biology from Loughborough University in 2011. She obtained experience in research at MRC Human Nutrition Research and MRC Epidemiology before completing the NHS Scientist Training in GI Physiology and Urodynamic Science at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
She is proficient in a range of gastro-intestinal and urodynamic investigations, has contributed to research, and has a patient-centred focus toward service development and patient care. Her MSc compared acid reflux outcomes using invasive and non-invasive measures. She is now registered as a Clinical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Annika joined The Functional Gut Clinic in October 2015 to perform the full variety of GI investigations to contribute toward diagnosis and treatment of GI disorders. She has an interest in pelvic floor function and consequences of childbirth on both faecal and urinary incontinence.
Originally from Finland, Annika now lives in Cambridge. She does a variety of sports including pole fitness and hopes to learn aerial acrobatics in the future. She is forever trying to become a runner, loves going out for coffee, and enjoys visiting friends from around the world.
